Labiaplasty – surgical correction of the labia

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure in the field of aesthetic gynecology that involves reshaping the labia, reducing their size, and improving firmness and volume. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia using an advanced radiosurgical scalpel, ensuring precision and minimal tissue trauma. After thoroughly disinfecting the vulvar and perineal area, the treatment area is marked to define the incision lines. The doctor then performs the procedure using one of several techniques — classic linear, wedge resection, or fenestration — selected individually based on the patient’s anatomy and pre-procedure assessment. Excess skin and subcutaneous tissue are removed through precise incisions. The area is then closed with continuous sutures, which are typically removed around 10 days later during a follow-up visit. A sterile dressing is applied to protect the surgical site and support healing.

How to prepare

  • Schedule the procedure in line with your menstrual cycle – surgery cannot be performed during menstruation.
  • Complete all required blood tests as prescribed by your doctor: CBC, blood sugar, HIV, anti-HCV antibodies, and coagulation panel.
  • Attend a gynecological consultation and provide a valid Pap smear result (no older than 12 months).
  • Discontinue blood-thinning medications at least 10 days prior to surgery, but only after consulting with your specialist – in some cases, alternative medications may be recommended.

Is this tight for you?

Labiaplasty is recommended for women who:

  • have an anatomical enlargement of the labia minora,
  • experience discomfort such as inflammation, pain, chafing, swelling, or irritation due to the size of the labia,
  • feel self-conscious about the appearance of their labia,
  • surring intimate infections.

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure suitable for women of all ages, as long as they are over 18 years old.

Treatment process

STEP I: Skin disinfection

STEP II: Anesthesia

STEP III: Labiaplasty procedure

STEP IV: Suturing and dressing

Results

The results of the procedure include correction of labial asymmetry and an overall improvement in daily comfort. Labiaplasty also helps restore firmness to the intimate area, which may have a positive impact on sexual well-being.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Protect the surgical area from any trauma or contamination.
  • Keep the sterile dressing in place for 12 hours after the procedure.
  • Apply cold Hydrogel compresses (refrigerated) to the vulva for the first few days if swelling or discomfort persists.
  • Strictly follow intimate hygiene guidelines.
  • Avoid baths and prolonged soaking of the operated area — opt for short showers instead.
  • Attend a follow-up visit and have the stitches removed approximately 10 days after the procedure.
  • Refrain from intense physical activity and sexual intercourse for about 4 weeks.

Contraindications

Labiaplasty should not be performed during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The procedure is also contraindicated in patients with an allergy to local anesthetics, blood clotting disorders, or serious systemic illnesses. Women with severe organ failure or poorly controlled chronic conditions — such as diabetes or hypertension — are not eligible for the procedure. Active infections, inflammation, or skin lesions in the treatment area may also prevent the procedure from being carried out. Additionally, women with a tendency to form keloid scars should avoid labiaplasty.

Patients often report that after undergoing labiaplasty, they experience improvements not only in their physical and emotional well-being but also in their intimate life. However, it is important to refrain from sexual activity for 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure, allowing time for swelling to subside and the area to fully heal.

We’re answering your most frequently asked questions

  • The procedure is performed under local anesthesia in a sterile treatment room, following proper surgical field preparation. The patient remains fully conscious and alert throughout. Hospitalization is not required; however, we recommend that a close relative or companion accompany the patient and take her home after the procedure.

  • The results of labiaplasty are permanent, which is why it’s so important to carefully consider your decision and choose an experienced physician. At the INVICTA Anti-Aging Clinic, our team of highly qualified specialists will guide you through the process and recommend the best solution tailored to your individual needs and expectations.

  • Labiaplasty is a medical intervention involving surgical alteration of the body, so there is always a possibility of complications. The most common include infection, excessive bleeding from the wound, or the reopening of the sutured labial edges, which may require an additional follow-up visit to the clinic.

  • The follow-up visit and suture removal are included in the price of the procedure.

  • After labiaplasty, taking baths should be avoided. It is recommended to gently cleanse the intimate area in the shower using hypoallergenic products that do not irritate the skin.
