Lip lift

Surgical lip enhancement using the lip lift technique offers a permanent improvement in the appearance of the lips and lower face. The procedure typically takes between 45 and 60 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia, making it virtually painless.

The technique involves removing a precisely measured strip of skin beneath the nose, which shortens the philtrum and increases the visible portion of the upper lip. This subtle lift enhances the shape and proportion of the lips, giving them a naturally fuller look.

The procedure is ideal for individuals who wish to enhance the aesthetic appearance of their lips by refining their shape and proportions, and increasing the visibility of the vermilion. It is also recommended for those with lip asymmetry or an overly long philtrum (the space between the upper lip and the base of the nose).

Treatment process

STEP I: The treatment area is cleaned and prepared, followed by the administration of local anesthesia..

STEP II: A precisely measured strip of skin is removed from just beneath the nose.

STEP III: The tissues are sutured in layers, with careful and delicate stitching to ensure optimal healing and minimal scarring.

Results

  • Permanent lip enhancement without the need for repeated injections.
  •  Improved shape and proportions of the lips.
  • Shortening of the philtrum (the space between the nose and upper lip).
  • Increased visibility of the vermilion, giving the lips a fuller appearance.
  • Correction of lip asymmetry.

Post-Treatment Care

It is important to protect the treated area from injury, UV exposure, dirt, and moisture. Keep the dressing clean and intact until your follow-up visit.

Wound care should include cleansing with a specialised solution and covering with a sterile dressing. Pain relief and anti-swelling medications must be taken strictly as prescribed.

A post-operative check-up and suture removal are typically scheduled after 7 days, with a follow-up visit recommended after 3 months.

Additionally, it is advised to avoid intense physical activity for 3–4 weeks. For the first two weeks, refrain from excessive mouth opening and avoid hard, large, or hot foods. Once the wound has healed, regular moisturizing, gentle scar massage, and strict sun protection for at least 12 months are recommended to support optimal recovery.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, allergy to anesthetics, blood clotting disorders, use of anticoagulant medications, severe systemic diseases, organ failure, uncontrolled chronic conditions, infections or antibiotic treatment within a month prior to the procedure, herpes outbreaks within two weeks before surgery, as well as inflammation or skin lesions in the treated area are all contraindications for the procedure.
